Introduction: The Plot of Thor
Thor: the Dark World is the eighth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and has been directed by Alan Taylor. The movie picks up after the events of Thor and The Avengers and features Loki, Thor’s brother who was imprisoned after his attempt to conquer earth.
Plot Summary
After their return from Asgard, Jane Foster has found herself relieved off her duties as a scientist due to Erik Selvig who doesn't believe in her research about an Aether. But when an old enemy reappears, Jane teams up with Darcy Lewis and her intern Ian to find a way to stop Malekith from destroying the world as we know it.
Act One - Thor and Jane Foster Arrive on Asgard
Act One is the first act of Thor. It starts with Thor and Jane Foster arriving on Asgard. Thor tells Odin that he has come to rule the kingdom. Based on their conversation, it is clear that Odin does not want Thor to rule Asgard, so he gives him a mission to find the Tesseract.
Thor meets Loki for the first time since he was born and they have a long conversation about what they think about each other, what they are going to do now that they are back together, how their father has changed over the years, etc.

Act Two - Loki and the Other Realms
This act is very important because it introduces Loki and the other realms. It also builds up to the climax of the entire play.
In Act 2, we learn that Loki is a trickster and that he has broken into Asgard and stolen Freyja's necklace which causes an uproar in Asgard. We also see Thor's banishment to Earth and what happens when he meets Jane Foster. We also get introduced to the realm of Hel, where we see Heimdall go, with Loki in tow, to retrieve Odin's spear Gungnir from its impaled owner on the tree Yggdrasil while Loki tries his best to seduce him.
